DMFS installs 1st Avidyne DFC-90 Autopilot Upgrade

Des Moines Flying Service has just installed the very first Avidyne DFC-90 Autopilot upgrade to the PA46-350P Mirage.  Working hand in hand with Avidyne, the system was successfully installed and now has several major performance and feature improvements:

•  Attitude Based - Greatly improved stability

•  Flight Envelope Protection - Prevents autopilot - induced overspeeds

•  "Straight and Level Button" - Recovers the aircraft from unusual attitudes

•  Indicated Airspeed Hold (IAS) - New vertical mode includes a dedicated airspeed knob and a new airspeed bug on the PFD provides  constant speed slight level changes.

•  Enhanced Flight Director - the DFC-90 capability is vastly improved and greatly improves the ability to hand fly approaches

•  Synchronized Heading Bug - Turns are commanded in correlation with the spin of the heading knob
